A group of us stayed here last weekend for dinner, bed and breakfast and thoroughly enjoyed it. It’s clear the staff care, both about the customers but also the place itself. Walking around the house and grounds, you can feel the history which makes it both interesting and personal. The whole place has a lovely atmosphere which is beautiful and elegant yet approachable and gentle. Having stayed at Gleneagles earlier this year, I would say that the food was better at Douneside. I would highly recommend it and will definitely be returning.

My husband and I had another wonderful lunch at Douneside last week. The food is just exquisite, and the service is impeccable. We enjoyed a stroll around the beautiful gardens beforehand. I can't recommend Douneside more highly and wish I didn't live 400 miles away!

Lovely hotel and everything was great till we got home. The day after we checked out I received an email c/w an invoice saying they had missed £94.10 worth of drinks from our bill and that they would use the card on file to take the payment. I immediately called to inform them that the drinks listed were definitely not ours and suggested they speak to the barman who had served us during our stay as I was sue he would remember what we had ordered. It is now five days later and I have heard nothing back from the hotel. I would have expected someone would have the decency to contact us to confirm their mistake and an apology would have been nice. I feel they have definitely let themselves down. This was our second visit and I now feel it will be our last.

Beautiful place which deserves more than 4 stars. The service was excellent and staff were very friendly. The food is outstanding and I was absolutely delighted with their handling of my dietary requirements (gluten free)... They went above and beyond to make sure I didn't miss out. Wish we could have stayed more than one night.

Fantastic in every way. A hidden gem that is one of the best hotels you could ever wish for. This typifies a 5 star hotel with staff who genuinely love being part of the hotel. Dining is superb, breakfast better, peaceful, relaxing and very friendly.

Royal Deeside's Hidden Gem. I stayed overnight with friends, I had a cottage and they had rooms. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, the accomodation was excellent, the meals (Dinner and Breakfast) were wonderful and the staff as always simply superb throughout our stay. I visit Douneside often in my capacity as the leading Tour Guide on Deeside and can say with certainty that this is one place that will never let you down!

From start to finish this was a wonderful stay. The hotel is a wonderful space with many facilities. The public spaces are beautiful, ample and comfortable. The rooms are well designed/ decorated with everything you need. The restaurant and bar are amazing with fantastic service. The food is a very high standard with a good selection to choose from. I found that the staff were all wonderful. They were welcoming, professional and really wanted to make your stay as wonderful as possible. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained and the view is stunning. Can’t fault it and I’d be back in a heartbeat!

Great overnight DBB stay here. Everything was perfect from lovely Christmas decorations cosy log fires to the amazing dinner and lovely breakfast in the morning. Managed a walk after breakfast as was raining on our arrival previous day would be lovely in the summertime. Highly recommend for a special occasion 😁👍
